Which type of counselling is right for you?
There are various ways to get support: online, via chat, by telephone or in person. You don’t need to know exactly what you need. A question, a nagging feeling or a desire for guidance is enough.
Online counselling from Aidshilfen
On aidshilfe-beratung.de, you can get advice via email or one-to-one chat on HIV, STIs, PrEP, sex, drugs, coming out, discrimination and many other topics.

Gay Health Chat
The Gay Health Chat is run by gay men who are knowledgeable about sex and health . The counselling service is aimed at men who have sex with men – cis and trans.
- Free and anonymous
- Every day from 5 pm to 8 pm
- For questions about HIV, STIs, PrEP, sex, feelings or drugs
Telephone advice
Do you prefer talking to writing? You can reach the Aidshilfen helpline by dialling this national telephone number.
- Monday to Friday: 9 am to 9 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 12 noon to 2 pm
- 9 cents per minute from all German networks
On-site counselling
Many AIDS support organisations offer free, face-to-face counselling in person. You can simply book an appointment with an AIDS support organisation near you.
- Personal and confidential
- Available in many towns and cities
- Also suitable for longer or more complex questions
Counselling services for people living with HIV
Deutsche Aidshilfe offers specialist support for people living with HIV. This includes support following a diagnosis, support through the Buddy Project and advice on HIV-related discrimination.
