Gentle Man and "ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU" celebrate the Christmas season together. On 11.12.10 Gentle Man will be present at the SchwuLesDance Christmas party together with "ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU". With the role model Sebastian various activities will be organised: Visitors can look forward to it!
The Gentle Man prevention project of AIDS-Hilfe Freiburg e. V. was launched in 2006 with start-up funding from Rosa Hilfe Freiburg e. V. The aim of the project is to provide more information for the gay scene about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, as the number of infections is on the rise again. What started out as a small project became a state project for the whole of Baden-Württemberg in 2009. There are now Gentle Man groups in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Tübingen and other cities.
In 2008, Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe e. V. launched the nationwide campaign "ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU". With this campaign, Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe wants to encourage men to protect themselves against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), promote their health and enable them to assess their own risk behaviour. This is done in co-operation with local prevention projects, but also through role models who report authentically about their lives and their experiences with love, sex, lust and risk. For the first time in German HIV prevention, ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU also includes HIV-positive men. The solidarity-based approach strengthens HIV-positive men - in their self-confidence. By addressing the issue of living with HIV, the campaign contributes to a realistic picture and counteracts discrimination and intolerance. This is because the stigmatisation of people with HIV leads to the tabooing of the topic and prevents communication about safer sex. Anti-discrimination work is therefore an important prerequisite for successful HIV prevention.
