A home game: Mr RUBCLUB 2011 is called Herbert and comes from Karlsruhe. Together with his runner-up Kim, he now represents the rubber scene throughout Germany - and beyond
A cellar full of men in rubber suits, and they have voted: The new Mr RUBCLUB is called Herbert. The man from Karlsruhe narrowly beat his future runner-up Kim, who comes from Hamburg. On the night of 9 January, the two relegated their rivals to the back of the pack at the Culteum fetish club in Karlsruhe.
The office of Deputy Mr RUBCLUB was newly created this year. This was a lesson learnt from the tireless efforts of the 2010 sash bearer, the IWWIT role model Olivier Schery. Last year, he travelled almost every weekend as the official face of the German rubber scene in Germany, France and the Netherlands. Herbert and Kim are now expected to divide their representative duties so that they have a little more free time.
Olivier is delighted with the new division of labour. "I'm delighted that the sash is staying here in Karlsruhe. But it's good that we now also have a representative of the rubber scene in the north with Kim!" While the southern German Mr RUBCLUB covers the south-west, his deputy can make contacts in Poland and Denmark. "There are many fetish fans there too. It's nicer when you exchange ideas and not everyone stays in their own corner," emphasises Olivier.
Who represents the scene in Chicago?
The election night also showed that the international exchange works. The Karlsruhe "Mr RUBCLUB Contest" has become one of the most popular parties in the fetish scene. The very mixed-age audience came not only from Baden-Württemberg, but also from neighbouring France, Switzerland and faraway northern Germany. Rubber sash wearers from France, the Netherlands and Switzerland were also guests.
European networking is important to the RUBCLUB team. The men who love rubber clothing, Lycra and sportswear will come together again in Karlsruhe at Whitsun - but then from all over Europe. The aim is for the most impressive rubber guy on the continent to represent Europe in the "Mr International Rubber" competition in Chicago.
