The gay fetish community is meeting in Karlsruhe these days at Rubber Week 2011. Highlight: the election of Mister RUBCLUB 2011 on Saturday
From a fist party on New Year's Eve to a Sunday brunch with the dress code "streetwear" and a "slave market": Rubber Week 2011 has been taking place in Karlsruhe since 30 December. It is organised by RUBCLUB, community partner of ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU. Next Saturday at the Culteum, the public will choose the future representatives of the European rubber scene - Mr RUBCLUB 2011 and his runner-up.
"Everyone has a chance," says the reigning Mr RUBCLUB Olivier Schery - well known to many as the role model from ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU. He emphasises: "It doesn't matter whether you are tall or short, old or young. But you have to be keen to show yourself off and communicate with people." After all, the party guests have the whole night to take a look at the candidates and get to know them before deciding around midnight. In short: "You have to have an arse in your pants."
Jump start for the curious
The arse in your trousers - the courage to stand by your fetish - that was Olivier's most important theme in his year as a dignitary. His message: Dare to come out if rubber, Lycra or sportswear turn you on! "Many people are interested but don't dare to go to a fetish club," says Olivier, who has just spent a year touring European clubs as Mr RUBCLUB.
In order to take away the men's shyness, the Alsatian puts his body on full display and informs all those who are curious about what he himself finds horny. In a workshop on Saturday, he wants to demonstrate how he pumps up his cock with the help of a vacuum pump. This medical device is originally intended for men with erection problems. Olivier demonstrates that you can also have a lot of fun with the device.
The commitment of the RUBCLUB organisers and their Mr RUBLCUB is bearing fruit: half of Europe will be at the start of the competition on Saturday, with candidates from Paris, Rome, Berlin and Hamburg, among others. Over 500 visitors have been announced. Olivier and his friend alone have nine overnight guests staying with them.
Better rubber than naked
The great interest is also due to the fact that RUBCLUB makes it easy for beginners. They can dress from head to toe in a "rubber fundus" and try out for one night whether they really have a fetish weakness. On request, "godparents" can even be arranged to answer any questions on the first visit.
Mr RUBCLUB 2010 is also on hand to answer questions. When Olivier enthuses about his preferences in his charming French accent, everyone becomes a fetish fan: "I don't find a sauna particularly sexy, for example," he says cheerfully. "I immediately see the whole man naked. In rubber, I can only guess at the shape of his body, I can see the bulge between his legs - that makes me much more curious than a completely naked man."
