IWWIT and the Edition Salzgeber make common cause. The "Gay History Box" from Salzgeber contains five important documentary films on the subject of gay life and belongs in every school. Anyone who makes sure it gets there will receive a donation receipt
The only thing you are sure to learn about homosexuality in German schools today is that "gay" is a swear word that can be used at any time. Yet there are exciting stories to tell about gays and lesbians that belong in every curriculum. But many heterosexual teachers don't know them, or fail to present them appropriately. This is exactly what Edition Salzgeber would now like to change.
Germany's most important queer film distributor has launched the "Gay History Box". The black slipcase contains five DVDs with important documentary films about gay and lesbian life in the 20th century, from "Paragraph 175" to "The Times of Harvey Milk".
The great thing is that you can now simply donate the box as a private gift to a school or other educational institution of your choice. For 49.90 euros, the "Gay History Box" can be ordered directly from the distributor by email at video@salzgeber.de. The friendly guys at Edition Salzgeber will then send the clever gift free of charge to the school or educational institution named, with a message from the donor. In return, the donor will receive a tax-deductible donation receipt.
IWWIT supports this campaign because we want gay men of all ages to know not only what they do, but also what those before them have done - and that everyone else knows this too. That's why these stories should be part of the curriculum in as many schools in Germany as possible.
On iwwit.de we will present one of the films every week from Saturday.
"Paragraph 175", "Before Stonewall", "Common Threads - Stories from the Quilt", "Enchanted", The Times of Harvey Milk", D/USA 1984 - 1999, running time 413 minutes
