Publicly positive: Marcel filming for an AIDS service organisation advert in Berlin

Our role model Marcel (21) surprises us time and time again: shortly after he tested HIV-positive a good year ago, he went public. Since then, he has been blogging about his infection, making YouTube films to educate people about HIV and homosexuality, travelling as a preventionist and generally bubbling over with ideas.

With his "positive" energy, Marcel has set a lot in motion - but has also manoeuvred himself to the brink of burnout at times. He then gave disarmingly honest interviews about this and, of course, blogged about it. Marcel also repeatedly reports on the hostile reactions he has to deal with as an HIV-positive and gay man.

Honour to whom honour is due: The West German radio station 1LIVE dedicated an episode of its "Plan B" series to Marcel. Reporter Carolin Jenkner accompanied Marcel in his daily life, at work, with friends and in his commitment against HIV. 1LIVE is the largest public radio station in NRW (reach: 17 million households).

The report was broadcast on 29 November 2010 at 11 p.m. and is available at available on the homepage of 1LIVE.
