The "Positive Encounters" conference produced exciting pictures and videos of life with HIV - many of them are online. Photos from Matthias Schätzl, Leipzig
Just over a week ago, the "Positive Encounters" conference took place in Bielefeld. One of the topics was images of living with HIV in public. The conference itself also produced a lot of pictures, which are now online:
An extremely productive video workshop produced, among other things, two insightful street polls, one on the provocative question "Should HIV-positive people feel guilty?" and one on the judgement against Nadja Benaissa.
Conference participant René plays with the motto "We're breaking the mould!" (see photo). He talks about how he used to use party drugs to go "from zero to one hundred in two seconds" and how he deals with HIV today. His goal: to get back to work.
All videos of the video workshop are available in the Blog of the German AIDS service organisation retrievable.
With aidshlife.com there are also photos from the event. These include some of the results of the photo art campaign "Du sollst dir ein Bild machen!" by photographer Matthias Schätzl, which involved answering questions about living with HIV using only facial expressions and gestures. The pictures were also shown in Bielefeld city centre.
Last but not least, our Role model Marcel (21) His personal experiences with "positive encounters" in his blog immortalised.
Marcel has also volunteered for a campaign to ensure that as many different images of life with HIV as possible appear in the media: "Stories seek media". Ten people who were present in Bielefeld are offering journalists their personal stories for publication.
