Positive. What now?

Much has changed in the treatment of HIV in recent decades. Today, it is possible to lead a good and long life with HIV therapy. Nevertheless, there are still challenges. And there is support.

Of course. The diagnosis "HIV-positive" can be challenging at first. It may even scare you for a moment. But nowadays, HIV treatment enables you to live a good and long life. And you are not alone. At the Buddy project of Deutsche Aidshilfe other HIV-positive people can help you take your first steps after your diagnosis. You can also find support at regional AIDS service organisations and various counselling services.

 

On our campaign page Positive, of course! other gay men will tell you how they deal with the infection and show you different aspects of living with HIV. You can find information on choosing a doctor, treatment and HIV coming out in the Knowledge centre on living with HIV.

 

And if you ever have difficulties with an authority, at work or in the healthcare sector because of your infection, the Anti-discrimination centre of the German AIDS Service Organisation and shows you exactly what you can do.

Whether online, by phone or in a live chat: experienced and trained counsellors are available to answer all your questions about HIV, STIs, chemsex and mental well-being. You can seek help from the anti-discrimination centre if you have experienced discrimination due to your HIV infection.
