Where to go if you have questions about safer sex and HIV but are afraid to go to the traditional health centres? ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU, the German AIDS service organisation's prevention campaign for gay men, is breaking new ground and invites you to an open information evening at the LUSH shop in Augsburg on 5 November.
Talking about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections is not easy for many people - regardless of whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. The threshold of a door can literally be too high to go to a health centre. ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU therefore does things differently and goes where people are: into the pedestrian zones. In cooperation with LUSH GmbH, the prevention campaign for gay men is using the shop in Augsburg as a discussion platform to inform and educate. The open information evening, which is supported by Augsburger AIDS-Hilfe, will take place on
Thursday, 5 November 2015
from 19:00 to 21:00 (after closing time in a more closed setting)
in the LUSH shop at Annastrasse 30, 86150 Augsburg.
Sebastian, who has been a volunteer at ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU for years, will be on hand to provide information. The Augsburg native will be available to answer questions about safer sex, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in addition to LUSH shopping. "We are looking forward to this opportunity to talk about an important health topic. Of course, heterosexuals can also get information. After all, knowledge about safer sex and HIV is important for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation," emphasises campaign manager Tim Schomann.
Augsburg is one of several locations where this new information programme is being tested. All information evenings take place in small and medium-sized towns and have particularly low-threshold access thanks to the discussion platform in a LUSH shop. ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU and LUSH GmbH intend to expand this format in 2016.
